Geography, climate, disease, malnutrition, as well as struggling economic and educations infrastructures have limited the growth and development of the Malawian people for decades. They remain some f the poorest people on Earth with nearly 5 million facing food insecurity.
HIV heavily contributes to the high numbers of orphans, infant mortality rates, and low life expectancy. Only a quarter of the nation's people are over the age of 30; half younger than 16. Less than half of children finish school through the 8th grade.
