An Entire Planet of Stories Worth Telling
ICCM's 5 schools are providing a phenomenal, college-prep education! Equipping schools with enough supplies and trained educators is difficult. Lack of quality education, as well as ongoing gender discrimination, contributes to only 16% of children attending school beyond the 8th grade. Often, teenagers and young adults are not equipped with enough skills to escape poverty and food insecurity. 40% of Ethiopia’s 118 million people are under the age of 15. We are eager to ensure MORE children have excellent education opportunities.
Our printing microenterprise (Called Tony's) is working to significantly reduce the cost of resourcing our students and teachers. Tony's Printing Company in Hawassa services local business with signage and printed paper materials. Tony's also prints and publishes books, curriculum, and homework. Access to printed materials for children is increasingly rare, and Tony's provides guaranteed, affordable access!
Our printing endeavor also creates jobs and profit margin for our company. We recently introduced a sewing expansion, providing required uniforms to all the students across our schools. Future revenue will allow us to expand into publishing. All such gain can provide support to the most needed areas of our Ethiopian projects, including staff and infrastructure, assisting unsponsored children, and helping to retain teachers in a competitive market.
Refurbishing equipment, increasing capital, expanding markets, and filling our company’s sales pipeline will add significant, in-country support to all of our projects in Ethiopia, creating sustainable avenues for resourcing and educating children!
